President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of Mrs. Kemi Nandap’s tenure as Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) until December 31, 2026. This decision is a testament to her unwavering dedication and service to the NIS, which spans over three decades, starting from October 9, 1989. Nandap has been leading the NIS as Comptroller-General since March 1, 2024

Kemi Nandap, whose illustrious career in the Nigeria Immigration Service began on October 9, 1989, was appointed Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024, with an initial tenure set to expire on August 31. However, in recognition of her outstanding achievements, Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga announced on Monday in Abuja that her tenure has been extended, a testament to her exemplary leadership and contributions to the service.
Under her leadership, the Nigeria Immigration Service has achieved significant advancements in its core mandate. “With notable improvements in border management, modernisation of immigration processes, and national security measures.”
President Tinubu praised the Comptroller-General, Kemi Nandap, for her outstanding leadership and encouraged her to continue focusing on the Nigeria Immigration Service’s key objectives, which are closely tied to his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
This agenda is a comprehensive plan aimed at transforming Nigeria into a prime global investment destination, with core pillars including democracy, development, demographics, and diaspora engagement.
President Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to backing the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in its mission to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity and ensure safe, legal, and orderly migration.
