According to the report by Crimewatchnewspaper , Linda Stephen, a 37-year-old housewife, has initiated divorce proceedings at a Kaduna Customary Court, citing her husband Felix Stephen’s excessive sexual demands as the main reason for her decision. The couple, married for six years and living in Ungwan Sunday, Kaduna, has seen Linda claim that her husband’s constant advances have become intolerable, leading her to seek to end their marriage.
In her divorce petition, Linda detailed her distress over Felix’s behavior, describing how he often insists on sexual relations late at night, showing little regard for her comfort or feelings. She recounted episodes where, despite her anguish and resistance, he would not back down. Linda also mentioned that she had left their home three months ago, and despite efforts from Felix’s relatives to convince her to return, they remain unaware of the depth of her distress.
Additionally, Linda accused Felix of physical abuse, alleging that he would become violent whenever she turned down his advances, even in front of their two children. This pattern has left her feeling cornered and scared, prompting her to seek legal intervention.
In response, Felix acknowledged Linda’s worries but expressed his commitment to controlling his sexual urges. He conveyed his love for her and requested the court’s help in reconciling their differences instead of approving her divorce request. Felix stated that he had attempted to involve Linda’s family, bringing relatives and friends for mediation, but she remained steadfast.
The court, led by John Dauda, heard both sides before deciding to postpone the case until May 6, 2025. The presiding judge encouraged the couple to maintain peace during this time and to explore the possibility of reconciliation.
