A woman identified as Jessica has been arrested by detectives attached to Special Area, Rumudomaya aka ( Rumuokoro) Police Division,in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State for allegedly stripping naked,bathing pepper on husband’s thirteen year old alleged female rape victim (nameswitheld) .
We gathered that the incident happened at Rupokwu in Obio/Akpor Local Governmeht Area of Rivers State.
Narrating the incident,the mother of the girl,identified as Goodness who did not want her full name mentioned because of stigmatization,said she was at her work place on Sunday evening December 29,2024 when some persons called her that her neighbour,Jessica had stripped the daugther naked and torturing her.
The traumatized mother stated that before she arrived home,some neighbours had rescued her daugther from Jessica.
Explaining further,the mother of the alleged defilement victim said “upon interrogation of my daugther,she told me that on Christmas day,December 25th 2024 a female neighbour who is a friend to Jessica took her(alleged rape victim) to Jessica’s house.
Miiutes later,Jessica’s husband,Mr Ebuka sent the wife(Jessica) and her friend on an errand.
“As his(Ebuka’s ) wife went out with her friend,Ebuka bounced on her and allegedly raped her after threatening to deal with her if she refuses.
“After he was done,he let my daugther go.Though my daugther did not tell me because of the threat.Nobody has seen Ebuka after that day.
“So on Sunday evening,Ebuka’s wife, Jessica,came to my shop and told my daugther to follow her,that she wants to show my daugther something in the house.My daugther followed her, only to get to their house,she stripped my daugther naked,poured her pepper and also inserted pepper in her vagina.Jessica dragged my daughther outside,flogged her severally with machet accusing her of having sex with her husband,Ebuka.Some persons even video recorderd my daugther”.
In the meantime,the National Coordinator of Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign,Prince Wiro has condemned the alleged torture of the thirteen year old girl by Jessica.
Wiro described the incident as inhumane,barbaric and disheartening
Mr Wiro said “we have interacted with the teenager and even saw the bruises and wounds on her body.We demand a thorough investigation by the Police.The Police should make concerted effort to bring in Ebuka,the woman’s husband to answer for the allegation againt him and anybody found culpable in course of investigation should be made to face the law”.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command SP Grace Iringe Koko when contacted, confirmed the incident adding that the matter is being transferred to State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department(SCIID),PortHarcourt.
As at press time,we gathered that Ebuka has been arrested.
Police sources disclosed that Ebuka in his statement,denied raping the thirteen yeae old girl accusing the mother of the girl of targetting and witch hunting him
