Recently, the prices of essential goods in Nigeria have skyrocketed.

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has initiated the dispersal of 21,924 bags of rice as part of the Federal Government's food security initiative.

During the launch of the program at Katsina People's Square on Sunday, the governor stated that the primary goal was to ease the economic challenges currently experienced by the population.

He mentioned that the program is focused on assisting various groups, particularly vulnerable women and youth, across different polling units within wards and local government areas totaling 6,652.

Located in the North-West region of Nigeria, Katsina State has received support from the Federal Government for the second time, including the recent distribution of fertilizer to aid farmers for both wet and dry season farming.

Governor Radda highlighted that compared to the previous year, this year's farming season in Katsina State has seen a notable decrease in insecurity, with successful cultivation of 95 percent of farmlands.

The State Government has granted contracts worth N30 billion to enhance the agricultural industry within the State. This is part of our ongoing efforts to improve the lives of the general public," he expressed.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, affirmed that the relief efforts are in line with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda.

He praised the governor for his dedication to assisting vulnerable communities during these challenging times.

The prices of essential goods in Nigeria have surged in recent months.

The distribution committees at local and ward levels include members of the State House of Assembly, security forces, representatives from religious organizations, as well as women and youth groups, among others, to ensure an impartial and fair allotment of the relief supplies.
