30-year old woman, Rebecca Ako, has landed in trouble for allegedly using fake 1000 Naira notes to buy food items inside the market in Osun State.
CRIME WATCH NEWSPAPER reports that the suspect, Rebecca Ako, has been arrested by the operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps over the fake Naira notes.
She was among suspects paraded by the Corps Commander, Dr Adekunle Omoyele, in Osogbo for various offences across the State and have already admitted to have committed the alleged offence.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson for Osun Amotekun Corps, Yusuf Idowu, who said that Ako was arrested inside Sabo Market, Ilesa, while using counterfeit N1000 notes to buy food items.
The Corps boss, Omoyele, stated that Rebecca admitted committing the crime, her excuse being the financial crisis she was going through.
While responding, the suspect added that she was introduced to the crime by a co-tenant after her husband dumped her.
“I am from Benue State and I live in Owenna. I used the fake money to buy goods. There is a woman, Mrs. Elizabeth, that I used to live with me when my husband left me but the woman later left for Abuja. She called me one day and introduced me to the fake money telling me that I can spend it,” she said.
“She usually sends the fake Naira to me through dispatch. When she gives me N100,000 fake money, I will give her N50,000 original money that I would have made in the course of using the fake money. That is how I used to do before I was caught.”
The Corps Commander stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
