BREAKING: Adegoke Takes Charge As New AIG Zone 2, Pledges Support in Policing

   September 17, 2024, AIG Fayoade Mustapha Adegoke officially assumed duty as the 32nd Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos. He succeeds AIG Olatoye Durosinmi, who retired on August 19, 2024.

AIG Fayoade, a native of Ila-Orangun in Osun State, brings with him an extensive background in law enforcement, having joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on May 18, 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Lagos, along with a Diploma in Political Science and an LLB (Hons) from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

As a seasoned officer and strategist with a reputation as a strong crime fighter, AIG Fayoade has served in various capacities within the police force. Prior to his appointment as AIG, he was the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, where he demonstrated his leadership skills in managing complex security challenges.

In his new role as AIG overseeing both Lagos and Ogun State Commands, AIG Fayoade has called on the public for maximum support and cooperation. He reassured the residents of these states that his administration will focus on citizen-friendly, problem-solving, and intelligence-based proactive policing. He emphasized that his approach will be rooted in the rule of law and aimed at maintaining public safety.

AIG Fayoade’s leadership is expected to enhance security operations across the two states, continuing the commitment to building strong relationships with the community while tackling crime effectively.
