Detectives from the Ogun State Police Command have launched a search for a tenant named Emmanuel (surname unknown) following the death of his landlord, Benjamin Apeh, on June 1, 2024, in Sagamu. The incident occurred during an argument over unpaid house rent.
The command's spokesperson, SP Omotola Odutola, confirmed this on Tuesday, June 4.
According to the information gathered, the incident was reported to the Divisional Police Officer at Sotubo Division by the deceased's daughter, Precious, on Monday, June 3. The incident took place at Arigbabu Village, Sotubo, around 7:20 pm.
During the argument, the tenant allegedly threatened his landlord. The following day, Sunday, June 2, another confrontation occurred around 6:30 am, during which the landlord collapsed and was rushed to the NNPC Hospital, Mosimi, for medical attention. He was later pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
The deceased's body has been deposited at the morgue of the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, for an autopsy, according to SP Odutola.
The PPRO stated that the suspect fled the scene, but the police are making efforts to apprehend him. She added that detectives, led by SP Temitope Fapohunda, have visited the scene and are actively working to locate the suspect.
