Following the death of Mr. Abdul Imoyo the Head, of Media and Public Relations at Access Corporation, Mr. Olakunle Aderinokun an Editor, Strategist, Researcher, Mathematician and Art Enthusiast has been appointed as the Head, of Media and Public Relations at Access Corporation.
Olakunle's appointment was announced days after the burial of the Group CEO, Herbert Wigwe's burial. According to Olakunle who announced his appointment on his LinkedIn handle, says “I’m pleased to share that I’ve resumed a new position as Head, Media and Public Relations at Access Corporation.”
This 53-year-old imager maker holds a B.Sc in Mathematics (Pure & Applied) from the University of Ilorin. While studying at the university, he cut his teeth in finance at First Marina Trust Ltd. He worked in the MIS & Accounts and Treasury departments of the company. He had training in journalism, financial management and business administration variously at the University of Lagos (MBA), Lagos Business School, The World Bank Institute and Standard Bank Group, South Africa and he attended workshops organised by CBN, NDIC, SEC, DMO, NAICOM, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Bol, UNDP and ICRC, among others. An Art and Fintech enthusiast, Aderinokun, who had his secondary education at the prestigious Baptist Academy, Lagos passed the WAEC School Certificate Examination with Grade One scores and also had training and certificates in online marketing, SEO, web design and graphic design.
This seasoned journalist and a media and PR specialist has an interest in digital marketing, affiliate marketing and e-commerce. He was until his appointment at Access Corporation, the Business Editor at Arise News Channels and Associate Editor at THISDAY Newspapers. He was until December 2013, the Group Business Editor of the newspaper. With his extensive background in media communications, despite being a graduate of pure mathematics, Aderinokun is no doubt bringing his wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role.
His 24-year sojourn in journalism saw him heading key positions in This Day Newspaper. He was the head of, the Business Desk, Abuja Bureau, he was also in charge of the Energy Beat. He covered and reported the Finance and Economy beat for several years. He also reported on commerce industry and aviation beats as well as the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and its agencies. His byline was Kunle Aderinokun.
He has attended workshops and conferences in Nigeria and overseas, including the IMF-World Bank meetings, African Development Bank (AfDB) meetings, Asia-Africa Trade and Investment Conference/Tokyo International Conference on African Development (AATIC/TICAD); Africa Oil Week, Cape Town, South Africa; Vaasa Energy Week, Finland.
His story will not be complete without mentioning his stint in the banking and finance sector. He worked with UBA, he had earlier worked with Wall Street Trust Company Ltd (now WSTC Financial Services Ltd) a stockbroking, investment and financial services company. While at Wall Street, he was primarily responsible for analysing all the stocks quoted on the NGX to advise investors and prospective investors. But in the course of his journalism career, he has met and interviewed top CEOs of institutions in the private and public sectors and has travelled widely.
In his new role, one of his major responsibilities is to manage the bank's corporate image and reputation, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders, and promoting the bank's brand in the media. As he will be dealing with more media personnel than before, the new media wants him to establish strong relationships and open lines of communication ensuring timely and accurate information is shared.
Aderinokun has a proven track record in strategic communications, having worked in organizations like THISDAY Newspaper and Arise TV, he is expected to be transparent, responsive, and accessible, embracing new media platforms and technologies to engage with a wider audience using his public relations and media experience.
He is known for his ability to develop effective messaging and communication strategies that resonate with target audiences. With Aderinokun at the helm, Access Bank is poised to strengthen its corporate image and enhance its public relations initiatives.
Olakunle Aderinokun is a devoted Christian and happily married with 4 boys. He is the junior brother to the late Mr. Tayo Aderinokun, who until he died in 2011 was the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive of GTBank
