Crimewatchnewspaper reports that the embattled husband, Kamoru, has filed a suit before the Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking for the dissolution of the marriage with his wife, Taibat.
An embittered Kamoru accused his wife, Taibat, of abandoning him, engaging in extramarital activities and denying him sex to the extent that she travelled out of the country without his knowledge and had her phone switched off for several days.
He told the Court that his wife later walked out of their marriage instead of showing remorse for negligence over her responsibilities towards him as her husband.
Kamoru pleaded for the custody of their children if granted divorce while Taibat was not in Court, though she was served Court summons.
Kamoru stated: “My 16-year old marriage to my wife has obviously hit the rock. I therefore, appeal to this Honourable Court to officially declare it dissolved”.
“I dated and later proposed to my wife because she was well-behaved and loving. She maintained this good behaviour for the first four years of our marriage, which encouraged me to contribute towards her wellbeing.”
“I gave her money to start a catering business, which started flourishing after a little while. My wife unfortunately, later stabbed me in the back.
Taibat later used her business as a cover-up to engage in extramarital affairs.”
“She started returning home late, which did not go down well with me.The more I complained, the worse she became.I later discovered she was dating another man, with whom she spent most of her time. My wife gradually abandoned her duties towards me.”
“Taibat constantly starved me of sex and became emotionally detached. My lord, my wife did the worst when she travelled out of the country without my knowledge.
Her phone was switched off for days, and I could not reach her. I thought of the worst due to the state of insecurity in the country. I later learnt she was out of the country.”
“Our parents waded into the issue and helped in settling it. But her attitude towards me obviously did not change, and our relationship became sour.
Taibat later packed her belongings and moved out of my house. I returned from work and found an empty house.”
“My lord, I beg that our union be officially dissolved and our children be handed over to me. I promise to take good care of them” Kamoru submitted.
The President of the Court, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, adjourned the case and ordered that a fresh hearing notice be issued and served the defendant
