"The NDLEA has dismantled a drug cartel and seized drugs such as Canadian Loud and Rohypnol that were imported from Canada and Tramadol from Pakistan that was bound for Italy.

Raymond Tedunjaye is from Lagos. The NDLEA has made significant progress in combatting drug cartels by successfully seizing and recovering substantial amounts of drugs from both traffickers and dealers.

Members of the organization allegedly seized a significant shipment of Canadian Loud, a potent synthetic variety of cannabis that was imported. It was found in 324 bags, weighing a total of 111.2 kilograms, in the Onikan region of Lagos Island.

Taofeek Yusuf, a 42-year-old suspect, was transporting the drug in an unregistered Grand Caravan vehicle for the purpose of distribution.

Today, Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA, revealed this information in a statement provided to reporters.

He suggested that the apprehension of Taofeek and confiscation of the imported shipment occurred on the night of Friday, January 12, 2024, as a result of valid information.

This occurred shortly after the capture of another individual involved in drug trafficking, Godwin ThankGod, the day before at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, by NDLEA officers. He stated that Godwin, who was heading to Milan, Italy, was caught before boarding a Royal Air Maroc flight because he had hidden codeine-based syrup and rohypnol in his baggage.

The individual, who frequently travels by air, was apprehended while authorities inspected his bags at the Departure Gate in Terminal 2 of the airport.

During the search, five boxes containing 50 bottles of codeine syrup and 300 rohypnol tablets were found. Similarly, on Friday January 12, the NDLEA agents discovered 30,000 packages of tramadol 225mg, comprising a total of 300,000 pills, at the import shed of SAHCO.

Following a collaborative inspection with various security agencies at the airport, the shipment originating from Karachi, Pakistan, via KLM Royal Dutch Airline, and carrying airway bill number 074-62674964, was apprehended.

On Tuesday January 9, the NDLEA operatives of the Directorate of Operation and General Investigation (DOGI) in Lagos intercepted different amounts of tramadol and cannabis sativa concealed in the soles of sports canvas shoes that were intended to be sent to Oman.

Similarly, another shipment containing tramadol and rohypnol hidden in spices, which was meant to go to the United Kingdom, was also intercepted at two courier firms.

According to the statement, agents in Oyo State carried out a surprise operation on January 11th in the Moniya area of Ibadan. The target was a secret factory run by a 28-year-old individual named Oyadeji Dimeji. During the raid, law enforcement seized a total of 76.6 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 134 grams of tramadol, 93 grams of rophynol, and 50 liters of skuchies, which is a liquid blend containing different psychoactive substances.

Four individuals, namely David Iyoragie, Adams Idowu, Ibrahim Audu Abdullahi, and Ayomide Henry Ayuba, were apprehended on January 12th at the De – Rock View Hotel in Ondo state, specifically at Gadson Junction off Ado-Ekiti Road, Igoba, Akure North LGA.

Their arrest took place after being found in possession of 524.5kg of cannabis. An additional suspect, Aniekeme Eyibio, aged 26, was also captured in Ala forest in Akure North LGA. During this arrest, 293.5kg of the aforementioned psychoactive substance, as well as a Dane gun, were confiscated from Eyibio.

The arrest occurred in Lapandimtai, Kaltungo, where the cannabis sativa was concealed within two sacks of groundnut, totaling 47 blocks." In the past week, the spokesperson of the anti-narcotic agency emphasized that the Agency's advocacy campaign against drug abuse, known as the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA), persisted in schools, markets, places of worship, and other locations nationwide.
