Three internet fraudsters, who hacked the
WhatsApp account of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Ogun State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DC Bode Ojajuni, have out-stepped their bounds and must, by now, be regretting their actions.
The hackers, Tolani Jeremiah, 31, Akande Suru, 20, and Edwin Jatto, 24, unknown to them that they were about to chew what they could not finish, took it as business as usual.
The trio took total control of Ojajuni’s WhatsApp account, a quintessential crime buster, and started sending messages to his contacts, demanding that money be sent to
Moniepoint account number 6862703892, with one Ichioma Ojo as the account holder.
At the end of the madness, they had succeeded in defrauding Ojajuni’s family and friends to the tune of One Million, One Hundred and Fifteen Thousand Naira (N1,115,000.00), under false pretense that he (Ojajuni) needed urgent financial assistance.
The suspects, who formed part of those paraded at the maiden press briefing of the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, on Monday, January 6, were tracked down to their hideout in Edo State.
According to the CP, “The suspects used the
Gmail account akandesuru342@gmail.com to receive OTP from WhatsApp to hack the account. The suspects are into internet fraud and have been defrauding innocent citizens”
Recovered from them, as exhibits, were seven phones, comprising Redmin, Infinix, Techno, Vivo, Samsung, all androids, and two small phones
