Police officials from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have dismantled a notorious "one chance robbery" syndicate. They have recovered weapons and six operational vehicles used by the suspects.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, disclosed these details when the suspects were paraded at the police command headquarters.

The police explained that the FCT Command has been working continuously to rid the city of all forms of crime and criminality. As part of this effort, they have arrested 12 armed robbery suspects who were part of the "one-chance" robbery gang.

In addition to the arrests, the police also recovered six vehicles believed to be used by the suspects in their criminal operations. They also seized one locally made Beretta pistol.

The arrested suspects include Joseph John Odeh, Moses Elachi, Mathias Agbogo, Ali Bukar Gana, Muhammed Inusa, Muhammed Adamu, Abbas Rabiu, Suleiman Lawal, Aminu Auwal, Ibrahim Shehu, Abbah Mohammed, and Abdulkarim Mohammed.

The police revealed that the first three suspects were members of a gang that specialized in impersonating police and DSS officers. Their modus operandi involved picking up unsuspecting victims, driving them to unknown locations, and demanding ransom for their release.

Their criminal activities were uncovered after a complaint was lodged by two victims, Jeremiah David and Amaka Humina, who were stopped and abducted by the suspects while traveling from Keffi to Abuja.

In a related operation, the police also apprehended additional suspects, including Ali Bukar Gana, Muhammed Inusa, and Muhammed Adamu, who were part of the same notorious one-chance robbery syndicate.

During the investigations, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities, admitting to impersonating security personnel and defrauding unsuspecting citizens over the past two years.

The Commissioner of Police assured residents of the FCT that the police remain committed to protecting lives and property, and the suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigations.
