Some angry youths from the North have set fire to a billboard promoting President Bola Tinubu’s bid for the 2027 presidential election.

The motives behind this act remain unclear, but it appears to be connected to a series of grievances felt by the community.

Earlier this week, a major disruption in electricity supply lasted over ten days, leading to public outrage.

The situation was only resolved after pressure from Nigerians

Furthermore, governors from the Northern region recently voiced their strong opposition to a tax reform bill passed by the House of Representatives.

Despite their pleas for the bill to be withdrawn during a meeting of the National Economic Council, President Tinubu dismissed their requests, urging them to address their concerns in a public hearing.

In a related development, several children from the North faced court proceedings yesterday for their participation in the End Bad Governance protests held in August, which led to the looting of state property.

Reports say that during the hearing, four of these children fainted due to malnutrition and were given biscuits to recover.

The court subsequently set bail at N10 million for the children, a financial condition deemed impossible for their families to meet, worsening their situation.

The burning of the billboard may reflect a growing wave of frustration among Northern youths regarding the current government’s handling of pressing issues in their region
