The definition of recognition, according to the English Oxford Advanced Dictionary, involves acknowledging the existence, validity, or legality of something. This sentiment is reflected in the praise directed towards Comptroller Dera Anselm Nnadi of the Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service by Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, the president of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics Of Nigeria (APFFLON).
APFFLON, under the leadership of its president, acknowledges the professionalism demonstrated by Comptroller Nnadi, particularly in relation to the core responsibilities of the Nigeria Customs Service, which include safeguarding the national economy, facilitating trade, and generating revenue. Otunba Ogunojemite, speaking to the press at the national headquarters of APFFLON, highlighted the recent interception of 684 packets of Cannabis Indica (Colorado), weighing 341.025kg with a street value of N682,050,000.00. This action prevented numerous potential users from falling into drug abuse issues.
Otunba Ogunojemite emphasized the severe public health, social, and economic consequences of illegal drugs, noting their role in fueling violence and contributing to societal disruptions. He commended Comptroller Nnadi for his intelligence, foresight, and positive relationships with stakeholders, characterizing him as highly capable and effective.
As a staunch advocate for professionalism within the logistics supply chain, Otunba Ogunojemite encouraged Comptroller Nnadi to maintain his dedication, citing the adage that "The reward for good work is more work." He also urged other government agencies to follow the example set by the Nigeria Customs Service in providing training and fostering positive relationships with freight forwarders.
Ogunojemite highlighted the importance of creating conducive environments for freight forwarders to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently, generating revenue for the government and sustaining their livelihoods.
