A self-confessed cultist named Amadesu Victor was arrested by the Delta State Police Command while negotiating the purchase of an AK-47 rifle from suspected kidnappers. The agreement was for the rifle to cost 1.3 million Naira.
The police apprehended Victor when they were trailing the suspected kidnappers. At the criminals' hideout, the police saw five people negotiating the purchase of the AK-47 rifle.
During interrogation, Victor claimed he was lobbying for the position of Number One in the Vikings Confraternity, and one of the requirements was to own at least one AK-47 rifle.
Victor confessed that he was arrested while trying to buy the AK-47 rifle for 1.3 million Naira, as he was aiming to become the Number One in the Vikings Confraternity. He said he had a car wash business but also engaged in internet fraud, deceiving old and white women, and earning up to 8 million Naira, which he used to fund the rifle purchase.
The suspect admitted he had been part of the cult group for six years and was assigned the task of purchasing the rifle when others saw he had the money. He expressed regret, saying he did not achieve anything by being a cultist.
The police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, advised parents and guardians to be vigilant, as most suspects start by mixing with bad friends, then move on to internet fraud, cultism, acquiring arms, and eventually, kidnapping and armed robbery.
