LAGOS-CRIME Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) has applauded the strategic redeployment of Commissioner of Police, CP Tunji Disu, from the Rivers State Police Command to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command in Abuja. This move aligns with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s mission to optimize Nigeria Police Force resources and leverage CP Disu’s exceptional professional expertise.
A statement by President of the association, Olalekan Olabule describes CP Disu as one familiar with the topography of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, adding, “CP Disu’s familiarity with the Abuja terrain, gained from his tenure as Commander of the Intelligence Response Team, will undoubtedly enhance security in the FCT. Also, his exemplary policing style, demonstrated in Lagos State as Chairman of the Rapid Response Squad, positions him to tackle criminal activities effectively in this new role.
“CRAN acknowledges the IGP’s strategic vision in deploying Disu to the FCT Command, recognizing his capacity to navigate complex security challenges, as demonstrated amidst Rivers State’s escalating political crisis while he was the Command boss. During his tenure as immediate past CP Rivers State, the Police Command earned praise from residents for its professionalism, impartiality, and proactive measures to maintain peace. CRAN is optimistic that CP Disu’s operational expertise will enhance the FCT’s security landscape and reinforce the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. As a seasoned senior police officer, his vast experience and knowledge of Abuja’s terrain make him an excellent fit for this critical role, and it is expected that his leadership will yield positive results as a significant stride in bolstering security in the FCT and reinforcing the police force’s dedication to maintaining law and order.
“CRAN commends the IGP for this strategic move, demonstrating a commitment to effective resource allocation and security enhancement. It considers this a well-deserved deployment, acknowledging his exceptional leadership and dedication to security. The association also expresses confidence in Disu’s capabilities and looks forward to seeing the positive impact of his redeployment on the FCT’s security soon. CRAN wishes CP Disu continued success in his new role and assures him of its support in his endeavors to ensure a secure and tranquil FCT.”
