The Osun State Police Command has addressed a viral video showing a confrontation between police officers and a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer at Elizabeth Estate in Osogbo.

According to the police, officers from Oyo State arrived at the estate to arrest a suspected criminal, but were prevented from doing so by civil defense personnel guarding the area. The situation escalated, resulting in two police officers being beaten and injured, and their vehicle's tires deflated

Reinforcements were called in from the nearest division, and upon arrival, the police officers were rescued, and one of the civil defense personnel involved in the altercation was arrested and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for investigation. The Osun State Police Command has assured that the investigation is ongoing.

However, the NSCDC has called for a probe into the incident, stating that their officer was brutally assaulted by the police operatives. The Osun NSCDC spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, has condemned the police brutality and demanded that the perpetrators be held accountable.
