Four and a half years after murdering his parents, Clement and Toyin Okhide, in their Ejigbo, Lagos home, suspect Okhide Michael has been arrested by detectives from the Alausa Division of the Lagos State Police Command.
The arrest took place on Thursday, October 17, at around 8:16 am, after Michael was spotted at the Ikeja Mall beside the Alausa Secretariat the previous night. The sighting was reported to the Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Ishola, who then directed the Divisional Police Officer of Alausa Division, CSP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, to ensure Michael's apprehension.
Crime watch report that Michael had been moving around the Alausa area, begging for alms, but was not recognized as a wanted suspect due to his unkempt appearance. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed the arrest and stated that an investigation is ongoing.
The incident occurred on February 4, 2020, when Michael stabbed his parents to death in their home and also injured his sister, Mary, before fleeing the scene. The late Clement Okhide was a 60-year-old lawyer, while his wife, Toyin, who was 50 years old at the time of the murder, worked as a matron at Isolo General Hospital.
Residents reported that Michael had been expelled from three private universities due to his consumption of hard drugs, and his parents' efforts to help him succeed in life had tragically ended in their own demise.
