The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police have confirmed the arrest of an alleged internet fraudster, commonly known as a "Yahoo Boy," who reportedly confined a young lady for money rituals in Abuja.
The suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, stated in a statement that the police are currently waiting for the NSCDC to hand over the suspect to the command.
A video circulating on social media on Thursday showed the young lady confined in a room with her legs tied. It was reported that she was allegedly confined by her boyfriend at the Top View Hotel in Wuse, Abuja, for a money ritual.
SP Adeh explained that the findings revealed the NSCDC had taken the suspect into custody and are yet to hand him over to the police for a thorough investigation. The FCT Police Command is awaiting the NSCDC to hand over all parties involved so that a diligent and discreet investigation can commence.
The police spokesperson said further developments will be communicated in due course.
