Crimewatchnewspaper reports that the suspects, Samsedeem Femi, 23, Ajao Azeez, 39 and Olaniyi Toheeb, 18, were arrested at Igando bus stop area in Lagos.

While armed with daggers and other dangerous weapons, they robbed one Sulaiman Rahmon of his two phones, wallet and other belongings.

However, they ran out of luck as they were nabbed by the Commissioner of Police Tactical team, which arrested and detained them over their alleged conduct.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly told the Police that they were not armed robbers but they belonged to the Eiye Confraternity and the weapons found on them were not for robbery operation.

However, the Police found them culpable as they were unable to explain why they robbed the complainant of his personal belongings with the force of arms found on them.

They were consequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and armed robbery, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The Court did not take their plea when they were arraigned after the prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, ordered their remand for 30 days without an option of bail for the outcome of the DPP”s report and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 26th June, 2024, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
