Story by Iyiola Ayomide
As the Federal Government declared June 12 (today) a public holiday to commemorate this year's Democracy Day in a bid to consolidate our democracy that was restored in 1999, 12 June, Ejigbo LCDA acknowledges its sanctity and has swayed to the spirit of the day God has blessed us with as Nigerians.
The liberty that comes with the day can not be overemphasized, however it is pertinent to also remember those who have laid their souls in the struggles that ushered us as a nation unto freedom from the clutches of military junta by fulfilling the core tenets of democracy.
Ejigbo LCDA is in the mould and spirit of the newly entrenched National Anthem:
Stanza 1.
Nigeria, we hail thee
Our own dear native land
Though tribes and tongues may differ
In brotherhood, we stand
Nigerians all, are proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.
Stanza 2
Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign
In peace or battle, honour’d,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.
Stanza 3
O God of all creation
Grant this our one request.
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.
In the celebration of June 12th as a democracy day - through our accounts, the current administration in Ejigbo LCDA has demonstrated accountability, transparency and equity.
*Yesterday, 11th of June, 2024, in a democratic spirit, Ejigbo LCDA has commissioned a model Primary school, where the deputy governor, Babafemi Hamsat was present and also gave a nod.*
Also in attendance are dignitaries like:
Prince Henry Ajomole, Chief Taiwo, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, Hon. Fabikun, Pa kasunmu (Ejigbo APC Chairman), Ojon of Ejigbo and kings from various kingdoms in Lagos state, and many more to mention a few.
In the same vein, there is an array of people oriented projects to be commissioned for the general use of our people. Projects such as Roads, Motor parks, Hospitals, CDC Building, and many more.
On a final note, Let’s continue to keep the fire of democracy burning. Let’s keep the torch lit for generations to come.
May God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Lagos State and Ejigbo LCDA, and preserve our democracy.
I WISH US ALL HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY.
