The Deputy Inspector General of Police representing the Southwest region, DIG Abiodun Sylvester Alabi, will begin a tour of police commands in the zone starting from Lagos State on Monday. This visit is to assess the security situation in the Southwest and ensure the implementation of the Police/Community Partnership agenda of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
During the visit to the Lagos Command, DIG Alabi will meet with the AIG in charge of Zone 2, the state Commissioner of Police, officers of Zone 2 and Lagos State Police Command, as well as community stakeholders including religious and traditional rulers. DIG Alabi is familiar with the crime and security situation in Lagos, having previously served as the Commissioner of Police, Squadron Commander, and Divisional Police Officer in the state.
After Lagos, DIG Alabi will proceed to other state commands in the Southwest. He is expected to arrive in Ogun State on June 4, 2024, where he will pay courtesy visits to the state Governor and the Alake of Egba land. At the state police command, he will address officers and men, focusing on topics such as the criminal justice system, police investigation procedures, forensic examination techniques, case file handling, intelligence gathering, and the relationship between the police and the judiciary.
The visit is seen as an opportunity for the Deputy Inspector General of Police to holistically address the policing challenges in the Southwest region and ensure the effective implementation of the Inspector General's directives.
