Fred Ajudua, a prominent city socialite, was arrested by the police last Wednesday. His lawyer, Lekan Ojo, confirmed the arrest to our correspondent on Saturday and stated that Ajudua has now been released on bail.
Ojo disclosed that Ajudua was released to him and Senator Ned Nwoko on Saturday evening. The senior lawyer expressed outrage that Ajudua was kept in custody by the Nigeria Police Force for over 48 hours without being arraigned in court or released on bail, which he deemed unconstitutional.
Recall that it was previously reported that Ajudua was arrested over land fraud and forgery allegations. However, Ojo refuted these claims, stating that the petitioner had exaggerated the dispute between Ajudua and himself, and that the arrest was solely related to a land dispute, with no involvement of fraud or forged documents.
Ojo emphasized that the disagreement between Ajudua and the petitioner did not involve any fraud or forgery, and that the arrest was merely due to a land dispute. He stated that he had to travel to Abuja to ensure his client's rights were protected.
Confirming Ajudua's release, Ojo said that he and Senator Ned Nwoko were able to secure Ajudua's release on bail.
