The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested six senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over an alleged fraud involving 6 billion naira.
The senior NSCDC officers are currently being interrogated by EFCC investigators at the EFCC's headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. Though the details of the investigation are still unclear, it is understood that the NSCDC officers were handed over to the EFCC on the order of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi.
An impeccable source revealed that the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had earlier written to the NSCDC Commandant General, requesting the release of the officers for interrogation.
A source at the EFCC stated that the anti-graft agency has the six senior NSCDC officers in its custody and they are being questioned over the alleged 6 billion naira fraud. The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, could not be reached for comments on the development.
The NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, also said he was not aware of the incident when contacted.
