An Ilaro-Yewa Magistrate Court sentenced two individuals who were apprehended by NSCDC operatives from Ogun State Command for stealing armoured cable at Dangote Cement factory, Ibese plant to one year in prison.
The two culprits, Hussain Waziri, 36 years old, and Mustapha Aliyu, 33 years old, were caught during a routine patrol at Dangote Cement Factory Outpost station.
They were found with special armoured cables used for power transmission within the factory, owned by Dangote Plc.
The arrested gang, known for stealing cables, conspired to break into the cable yard within the Power Plant to commit a theft.
During a patrol at the Power Plant duty post, NSCDC armed personnel caught Mustapha Aliyu and Hussein Waziri in the act and they resisted arrest with dangerous weapons.
Mustapha Aliyu was captured while Hussein Waziri managed to escape with the stolen cable but was re-arrested later that night.
They appeared in court on Tuesday, 21st May, 2024, where they pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft.
The Magistrate convicted them, and the Ogun State NSCDC Commandant, David Idowu Ojelabi, emphasized the agency's commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and fighting crime in the state and country.
