Dangote Petroleum Refinery has once again announced a price reduction for diesel and aviation fuel, with prices now set at N940 and N980 per litre respectively. This adjustment follows the recent reduction to N1,000 per litre just two weeks ago. The new pricing structure applies to customers purchasing five million litres or more, while a price of N970 per litre is offered to customers buying one million litres or more.
Mr Anthony Chiejina, Head of Communication for Dangote Petroleum Refinery, stated that this price reduction aligns with the company's commitment to alleviating the economic hardships faced by Nigerians. He highlighted a strategic partnership between Dangote Petroleum Refinery and MRS Oil and Gas stations, ensuring affordable fuel prices at all their locations, including major airports. Diesel can now be purchased for as low as N1,050 per litre, and aviation fuel at N980 per litre, in these MRS-operated stations.
Furthermore, Mr Chiejina emphasized that this partnership will extend to other major oil marketers, with the aim of preventing retail buyers from purchasing fuel at exorbitant prices. The Dangote Group remains dedicated to improving the welfare of Nigerians, and it is hoped that these new prices will help alleviate the economic challenges faced by the country.
The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery recently announced yet another reduction in the price of diesel, bringing it down from N1,200 to N1,000 per litre. This marks the third significant reduction in diesel price in less than three weeks, as it was previously sold at N1,700 to N1,200 per litre. Additionally, the price of aviation fuel has been reduced to N980 per litre.
President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria had previously commended Dangote for the initial price reduction, recognizing it as an impressive accomplishment. In response to the latest price reduction, Mr. Ajayi Kadiri, the Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), praised Dangote Refinery for their decision, stating that it demonstrates the positive impact that local industries can have on the national economy. He further emphasized that this intervention by Dangote Refinery in lowering prices will have far-reaching effects on various sectors, such as industrial operations, transportation, logistics, and agriculture. This reduction is expected to contribute to easing the country's high inflation rate and enable many companies to resume operations.
