BREAKING: FRSC Spokesperson, Jonas Agwu, becomes Fellow NIPR

 


Assistant Corps Marshal Jonas Agwu, mni, who currently serves as the Corps Public Education Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps, has been recognized as a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). This honor is the highest rank within the Institute's membership category. 

The announcement was made by Corps Commander Charles Edem, Deputy Corps Public Education Officer at FRSC Headquarters in Abuja. Agwu's appointment emphasizes his role as a trailblazer for young professionals in the field of public relations.

 Before assuming his current position in January 2024, Agwu served as the Acting Head of Operations Department at the national headquarters in Abuja.

 He boasts an impressive academic background with a Bachelor and Masters of Arts Degree in History from the University of Lagos, in addition to holding a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism. Agwu is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in the United Kingdom and an alumnus of the International School of Public Relations in London. 

With his vast experience and expertise in communication, Agwu is expected to enhance the reputation of the Corps as a skilled image maker and contribute to its overall advancement.

With close to three decades of experience, the newly appointed spokesperson is a highly passionate expert in road safety. Throughout his career, he has held various commanding positions in different states of the Federation within the Corps. 

He has also undergone extensive training in the fields of security, road safety, and transportation both domestically and internationally.


Some of the notable courses and workshops he has attended include Communication Skills Europe in 2003, Global Transport Knowledge Partnership Workshop in Tunis in 2006, Traffic Injury Prevention Workshop in Cape Town in 2007, Traffic Management Workshop in Toronto, Canada in 2008, law enforcement training with the California Highway Patrol, USA in 2009, Canadian Multi-Disciplinary Road Safety Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 2011, International Center for Alcohol Policies Conference on Harmful Drinking in Washington DC in 2012, 

West Africa Road Safety Organization Conference (WARSO 2014), World Bank Sponsored Management Capacity Building Training with the California Highway Patrol, USA in 2016, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru Plateau State, Nigeria in 2019, and many others.

As a Fellow of a reputable Institute, the Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, has encouraged him to utilize his extensive experience to bring about a renewed sense of optimism within the Corps.
