The authorities in Imo State are actively searching for Okafor Akachukwu, who is believed to be a well-known terrorist and prominent member of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra.
He is being pursued for his involvement in a fatal assault that he orchestrated in December 2021.
The recent action taken to apprehend Akachukwu now encompasses all the southeastern states in order to locate him. This decision was made following new evidence that implicates him in the devastating assault on Umutanze village on December 31st, 2021.
This attack resulted in extensive damage to items, properties, and caused harm to several individuals.
The residents relocated from the village due to the attack, resulting in the community becoming an unsafe area.
Akachukwu managed to escape and left the country, but he continued to coordinate his criminal activities against people in the south East geopolitical zone, according to reports.
Nonetheless, the police have received new and reliable information that prompted them to reopen the case against Akachukwu.
This is mainly because credible individuals and victims of the attack have come forward, claiming to have seen him in different locations.
Even though Akachukwu is currently evading the authorities, he is not beyond their grasp.
He went into hiding with the misguided belief that his heinous crime would be forgotten over time.
Mr. Okafor Akachukwu, who happens to be from Umutanze village in the Orlu local council area of Imo state, is involved in the illicit practice of extorting money from the residents of the area in order to support his extravagant way of life.
Informants have revealed that the police may be compelled to issue a warrant for his arrest, enabling the public to apprehend him if spotted or report him to the nearest police station.
