Lagos State Police Commissioner Adegoke Fayoade explained providing protesters with water and biscuits during the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) nationwide rally on February 27th. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Fayoade said he wanted to prevent demonstrators from collapsing during the march, according to Daily Trust.

“I provided water and biscuits because I don’t want anyone to collapse on the way. We have to use water to strengthen everybody. That is the least we could do,” Fayoade stated.

He said the NLC protest went as agreed with leadership, and police provided protection from start to finish just as promised. Fayoade assured the same security will continue on Wednesday when he joins operations personally.

The Lagos police commissioner reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property of law-abiding citizens. By supplying provisions, he aimed to uphold that duty by preventing harms to lawful demonstrators.

Lagos Police Commissioner Fayoade said he supplied water and biscuits to NLC protesters so they wouldn't collapse from exhaustion, keeping his promise to protect them. He will also oversee security personally during the next rally on Wednesdaya
