AIG Ari Muhammed Ali, fcia, psc+, PhD, who is the Assistant Inspector General of Police responsible for Zone 2 Command encompassing Lagos and Ogun States, has given the directive to terminate the employment of Inspector Sunday Adetoye with AP No. 279495 and Inspector Ogunleye Stephen with AP No. 223521.
These individuals were affiliated with the Zonal Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos and have been dismissed due to their involvement in armed robbery, official corruption, and engaging in illegal duty.
On November 23, 2023, at approximately 10:00 PM, the officers who were already facing trial for a similar offense acted improperly.
Accompanied by three individuals, including two members of the Vigilante Group, namely Semiu Afisu and Abidoye Femi, as well as Charles John who served as the driver, they proceeded to the residence of Taiwo Monsuru and Akintola Sunday in Obada-Oko, Ogun State.
Armed with two SMG rifles and live ammunition, they conducted an unauthorized search of the premises and unlawfully seized five iPhones, one Samsung smartphone, one Tecno smartphone, and two laptop computers.
The residents of the apartment alerted the police officers at Ifo Division about the incident and provided a description of the vehicle involved, resulting in the officers setting up a roadblock.
As a result, the occupants of the vehicle were apprehended, except for ASP Ajayi Victor, who is still on the run after leading the illegal operation.
The AIG has instructed that the officers who were dismissed should face legal charges together with the civilians involved.
Additionally, he urges all members of the police force to carry out their duties in a professional manner, abiding by the law. He states that any individual found guilty will be held responsible for their actions or lack thereof.
Moreover, he underscores that the current management of the Nigeria Police Force, led by IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, will not tolerate any form of unethical or corrupt behavior.
He also encourages the public to promptly report any instances of unprofessional conduct by police officers, as the Police is always available to safeguard everyone. The temperature is rising, and it is causing concern among scientists.
They are worried about the impact of global warming on the environment.
The Earth's climate is being affected by human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels.
This is leading to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions, which trap heat in the atmosphere.
As a result, the Earth is experiencing severe weather events, such as hurricanes, droughts, and heatwaves.
These extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and intense.
The consequences of global warming are far-reaching and have the potential to disrupt ecosystems and threaten biodiversity.
The melting of polar ice caps is causing sea levels to rise, which is a major concern for coastal communities.
It is also leading to the loss of habitat for various species, including polar bears. Furthermore, global warming is affecting agriculture and food production.
Changes in temperature and precipitation patterns can result in crop failures and food shortages.
This can have devastating consequences for communities that rely on agriculture for their livelihoods.
In addition to its environmental and economic impacts, global warming also poses a significant threat to human health. The rise in temperature can lead to heat-related illnesses and increased transmission of diseases.
Vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and children, are particularly at risk. To address global warming, countries around the world have made commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This includes transitioning to renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power.
Additionally, efforts are being made to promote energy efficiency and sustainable transportation.
However, more needs to be done to effectively tackle the issue of global warming.
The cooperation of all nations is essential in order to mitigate its effects and prevent further damage to the planet.
It is crucial that immediate action is taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit global warming to a manageable level. Failure to do so may have irreversible consequences for future generations.
