PROMOTE TIMELY SETTLEMENT OF TAX OBLIGATIONS

The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area in Lagos State recently met with Stakeholders in order to provide the public with information about ongoing development plans in the area.

The Stakeholders encompass a wide range of groups, including the Community Development Committee (CDC), Community Development Associations (CDAs), Landlords Association, Religious Bodies, Senior Citizens, the Youth Council, Indigenous families, and others. The Council's Legislative Team, Executive Team, and Management Team were in attendance as well.

The Stakeholders Meeting took place at the Marriage Registry & its extension, Council Secretariat, NNPC, on Friday 19th January, 2024. Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE), the Council Boss, addressed the audience at the event and outlined the objective for the Year 2024, which is to officially inaugurate all completed and ongoing projects.

He emphasized the intention to prioritize the completion of ongoing projects as soon as possible. The project commissioning exercise was discussed in detail by the Chairman. In February, the Akinsanya Ajaloleru Nursery and Primary School located near Ilamoshe, commenced its operations.

The school, which started its classes in September 2023, currently accommodates a total of 350 students. "The Morning Star Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Aigbaka is set to be commissioned in March.

The Community Development Committee (CDC) Building in Ejigbo, Dauda Ilo, will be commissioned for the first time in April. Additionally, the network of seven roads at Iyalaje Estate will be commissioned in May." The construction of Ifoshi Road, which was last undertaken by Col. Buba Marwa in 1998, is scheduled to be completed and opened to the public in June.

The Local Council has obtained the Ooni of Ife's consent to officially inaugurate the road. The commissioning of the inaugural Central Motor Garage at Iyana-Ejigbo is scheduled for July.

Following this, the second Motor Garage at Alaba Moshalashi, Ile-Iwe bus stop, is expected to be commissioned in August. The Kashimawo Alimi Road is scheduled to be inaugurated in September, while Falana Road will be inaugurated in October.

The NNPC will have the Ultra Modern Council Secretariat commissioned in November. The intention is to request the State Governor's presence for the commissioning of this impressive building. Nevertheless, the contractor has been urged to ensure that the Secretariat is prepared for the arrival of political officers and staff by March. In conclusion, a Thanksgiving Programme will take place in December to express gratitude to God for the achievements of all preceding events.

Community members will receive invitations to attend this occasion. During the Stakeholders Meeting, another important topic that was addressed was the matter of generating revenue. The Executive Chairman urged all the participants to return to their respective communities and motivate their constituents to fully comply with tax and levy obligations. It was emphasized that this is crucial for ensuring the successful completion of all ongoing projects.

He clarified that the majority of projects have not had their payments finalized. However, the Local Council places confidence in reputable contractors, just as the contractors trust in the Local Council's credibility. Hence, it is crucial for the Local Council to generate sufficient revenue in order to maintain this credibility. Mr. Yahaya Mufutau, the Council Treasurer (C.T), has taken charge of the Council's revenue team, while Hon. Olufemi Ibine, the new Supervisor for Market and Revenue (previously Supervisor for WAPA), will be working alongside him.

They will be collaborating with a competent team. The payment process was described by the C.T, emphasizing that payment should not be made in person, but rather at the bank. The person making the payment would receive two copies of the teller at the bank. One of the copies would be dropped into a provided box. The revenue team would collect the tellers from the box, process the receipts, and subsequently send them to the owners. In addition, the Ejigbo LCDA has recently unveiled its new brand color.

Instead of the traditional Creme and Brown, the Local Council will now utilize a combination of White and Purple for all its projects. This change aims to enhance the visibility and recognition of the projects. OBE addressed the concerns and inquiries of the Stakeholders by assuring the residents of Ailegun that he would allocate Ten Million Naira in March to partially rehabilitate Ailegun Road. Nevertheless, he urged them to raise additional funds internally and responsibly utilize the resources to ensure the road remains in a manageable condition until the State Government undertakes a complete reconstruction.

Moreover, the landlords have received guidance to be vigilant about the possessions brought by their tenants/customers into the residential units, in order to prevent the occurrence of hazardous materials such as explosives in residential communities, similar to the incident of the recent explosion in Ibadan. Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE) is devoted to the progress and advancement of Ejigbo LCDA, and he has made a pledge to persist on that journey until his final day in his position.
