Mr Adegoke Fayoade, the Lagos State Command Commissioner of Police, has announced the apprehension of seven prominent cult members in the Ikorodu region over the past five days.
On Thursday, Fayoade affirmed the detention when he spoke to the CRIMEWATCHNEWSPAPER Reporters at the state's command headquarters.
According to him, three individuals were apprehended on Tuesday, whereas four individuals were detained on Thursday in various regions of Ikorodu in Lagos.
The commissioner emphasized his determination to address cultism, traffic robbery, and kidnapping as significant crimes. Fayoade requested the assistance of CRAN members and emphasized that media professionals were crucial in gathering feedback and obtaining information.
"He expressed that he was collaborating with the judiciary in order to guarantee that apprehended criminals would be detained for an extended duration."
The police chief stated his commitment to transparency in his actions, emphasizing that no officer would be shielded from accountability for any misconduct.
Fayoade has stated that he will consistently guarantee that his personnel perform their duties in a professional manner.
He urges the public to inform him of any instances of unprofessional behavior from his officers and men.
"He urged all Divisional Police Officers to guarantee that their stations are welcoming for anyone needing to make a report or complaint."
He stated that there would be a more stringent implementation for commercial motorcyclists as they were contributing to the security issues in the state.
The police chief cautioned his personnel and officers about getting involved in land disputes, emphasizing that such matters are considered civil and legal in nature.
Nevertheless, he made it clear that individuals intentionally intent on creating problems related to land issues will face appropriate consequences. Mr. Olalekan Olabulor, the President of CRAN, provided assurance to the CP that the association would consistently provide information to its members, ensuring their ongoing support.
