 The Police Service Commission of Nigeria has granted approval on Tuesday, January 23rd 2024 for the appointment of AIG Dasuki Galadanci as Deputy Inspector General of Police. 



He will be responsible for representing the North West Geopolitical zone of the country.    DIG Ibrahim Sani Ka'oje is set to retire on February 2nd this year, and he will be succeeded by another individual.    The promotion of 1897 senior Police Officers to their next substantive ranks has been approved by the Commission, as stated by its spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.    He mentioned that the Commission promoted 14 Commissioners of Police to the higher position of Assistant Inspectors General of Police.   




 "Nevertheless, one of the Commissioners for promotion to AIG voluntarily withdrew their nomination, allowing for the Commission to evaluate the ongoing Disciplinary Matters concerning the Officer. These matters were submitted to the Commission by the Nigeria Police Force."    The following individuals have been appointed as new AIGs: Yetunde O. Longe, who will serve as CP Eastern Ports in Portharcourt; Haruna Gabriel Garba, who will be CP Federal Capital Territory; Tajudeen Akinwale Abass, who will serve as CP Delta State; Rex Dundun, who will be CP General Investigation at FCID Annex Kaduna; Durosinmi Olatoye, who will be CP Akwa Ibom State; Afolabi Babatola Adeniyi, who will serve as CP Adamawa State; Abiodun Oladimeji Asabi, who will be CP Ondo State; Julius Alawari Okoro, who will serve as CP Plateau State; George Chijioke Chuku, who will be CP Benue State; Paul Alifa Omata, who will serve as CP K9 Force Headquarters; Yusuf Adesina Akeem, who will be CP Research and Development at Force Headquarters; Bzigu Yakabu Kwazhi Dali, who will be CP Osun State; Idris Nagoyo, who will serve in the Police Mounted Troop Squadron; and CP Ogundare Dare Emmanuel, who will take on the role of CP Ekiti State.    






The Commission also elevated 21 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the official position of Commissioners. In addition, 20 Assistant Commissioners were promoted to Deputy Commissioners, 109 Chief Superintendents were promoted to Assistant Commissioners, and 184 Superintendents were promoted to Chief Superintendents.    Furthermore, the elevation of 1549 Assistant Superintendents to Deputy Superintendents was thoroughly evaluated and sanctioned.    





Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, the former Inspector General of Police and current Commission Chairman, has granted preliminary authorization for the selection of a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the advancement of 1897 senior Police Officers. These individuals were recommended to the Commission by the Inspector General of Police and their appointments and promotions have been approved during the Management Meeting.    




The Management of the Commission conducted an interactive promotion interview for the 14 Commissioners of Police and 21 Deputy Commissioners. This interview is a mandatory requirement for their promotion to higher ranks.    During the interactive session, Dr. Arase urged the Officers to promptly adapt to their new positions and take action to triumph over banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes prevalent in the nation.    





He expressed that the country is currently experiencing an unprecedented surge of criminal attacks that could have been prevented, and mentioned that the Commission is concerned about the ongoing series of incidents.    The Chairman of the PSC urged the Officers to familiarize themselves with the patterns and trends of crimes in their respective areas and create crime maps.   



They should also practice predictive policing to address the current rise in criminal activities carried out by gangs throughout the country.    He stated that the senior Officers should accept accountability for any decline in the country's security system and view their newly acquired ranks as a reminder to show even more commitment in serving their homeland.    "He advised the newly promoted Officers that these promotions will continue to stimulate their unwavering determination and courage in battle."    The Deputy Commissioners who have been promoted to the rank of substantive Commissioners are as follows: Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, who was previously serving as Assistant Chief of Mission in Somalia; Mohammed Dahiru, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Crime Investigation Department in Adamawa State; Sunday Olukayode, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in Plateau State; Peter Ukachi Opara, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration in Imo State; Illiyasu Yahaya Kwarbai, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigation at the Zonal Command in Bauchi; Bello Mohammed Sani, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Projects Monitoring at the IGP Secretariat; Mohammed Umar Abba, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Crime Investigation Department in Delta Command; Dankombo Faling Morris, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations at Adamawa Command; Bello Shehu, who was previously serving at the National Defence College; Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Zonal Crime Investigation Department in Kano; Ahmed Musa, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Crime Investigation Department in the FCT Command; Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, who previously served as the Force Public Relations Officer and is currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the General Investigation Unit at FCID Annex, Gombe; Simeon Udofia Akpanudom, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations at Cross Rivers State Command; Olugbemiga Emmanuel Adesina, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Benue State Command; and David Iloyanomon, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration at Anambra Command.    Other individuals include Haruna Olufemi, who holds the position of DCP Force Intelligence Bureau. Rose Chollom Dung serves as DCP Administration in the Bauchi Command. Obono Nnaghe Itam is the DCP Operations of Zone 6, located in Calabar. Adedamola Waheed Ayilara is the DCP FCID Panti Lagos. Abel Jangnap Miri Zwalchir is responsible for DCP ICT Administration at the Force Headquarters. Lastly, Ifeanyi Uka serves as DCP and is the second in command for Works at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.    





The Deputy Commissioners position has been granted to 20 Assistant Commissioners of Police. The names of those promoted include Gerald Ngoziabata, who works at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Okenla Oluseyi ACP DFA, who is in charge of Cooperatives in Lagos, Olubunmi Fakeye, who works at the ACP Police College Ikeja, Ayodeji Adelogagunduro, who is the Area Commander in Ayetoro, Ogun State, and Samuel Dalti Dang, who works in the Armament section at the Force Headquarters.    





Several CSPs who have been promoted to Assistant Commissioners include Casmir Ihiezu from the Lagos Command, Charity Belema Megbope from the Ogun Command, Gamaliel Alex from the Rivers State Command, Sani Ahmed from DPO Awada Anambra state, Cecilia Aniedy Udo from DPO Mini Okoro in Portharcourt, CSP Dalapo Badmos from CSP Administration Provost Marshal Force Headquarters, Adamu Ahmadu from the Commander C41 Intelligence Unit in Rivers State Command, CSP Collins Eruogu who was formerly the Commanding Officer 33PMF and is presently Commander AKS/RRS Anambra State Command, CSP Isreal Effiong Ukpong who is 2/ic 19PMF in Portharcourt, CSP Linus Uche Nwaiwu from the Police Training School in Nekede, Imo state, CSP Onoh Charles from CSP Administration ICT, Force Headquarters, CSP Abubakar Abdulkarim from DPO Kubwa FCT, CSP Taiwo Oladipupo Akingbehin who is the Commander EOD at Force Headquarters Annex Ikeja, CSP Moses Odu Osor from Zone 7 Abuja, CSP Garba Bala from DPO Dawakin, FCT, and CSP Benjamin Igometi and CSP Chinna Joe-Iruobe from the Veterinary section at Force Headquarters.    A number of 184 SPs have been promoted to the rank of CSP. Among them are Victor Olowola, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Hassiani Audu, Stephen Bob Samuel, Mohammed Alhaji, Onukafor Kingsley Nkuma who serves as ADC to the Governor of Anambra State, Fabian Iloabanafor who is the Commander CP Monitoring and Surveillance team at Ebonyi state Command, Luka Paul Sambo who is the DPO at New Benin in Benin City, Edo State, and Agboni Jacob Christopher from 54 PMF in Onitsha.    Ani announced that the approval has been communicated to the Inspector General of Police for execution.
