Nigerian Workers must take specific actions advised by the NLC President in order to obtain the New Minimum Wage from the Federal Government, recent reports disclose.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) emphasizes that the process of discussing and putting into action a new national minimum wage is an endeavor that requires the united effort of everyone, and not solely the organized faction of workers.
On Monday, in Abuja, Mr Joe Ajaero, the President of NLC, made this statement during the "International Lenin Centenary" Conference.
According to Crimewatchnewspaper, Leninism arose during a turbulent moment in history, characterized by the occurrence of the Russian Revolution in 1917.
The objective was to create a structure for the formation of a socialist society, which highlights the importance of class conflict and the necessity of a revolutionary leadership to address the issues faced by the working class, still holding significance to this day.
Ajaero asserted that the sole opportunity to evade subjugation and misuse lied in fostering a unified collective strength.
According to him, this would additionally contribute to strengthening the opposition against alleged forces that strive to prevent any chance of societal transformation.
He believes it is crucial to acknowledge that as we get ready to discuss the national minimum wage this year, we should not view it only as a fight for the NLC and TUC but as a joint effort.
"I urge all of us to unite throughout the entire negotiation process, from start to finish, and until its ultimate execution."
"We are doing this in order to defeat those individuals who have already firmly decided to pay a minimal wage to Nigerians, leaving them in a state of deprivation."
"We are striving for a fair wage, and it is only through collective unity as colleagues that we can accomplish this goal." He reminded his comrades that their chances of success are low when they act individually, but when they unite, they can attain their common goals.
However, according to the president of the NLC, it is important for us to come together and devise new political strategies in order to prevent repeating the errors that have occurred since 1999.
He mentioned the importance of enhancing awareness to comprehend the connection between complicated work environments and various forms of exploitation and oppression within the broader society.
"How can we bring about transformation in our country when we continue to be heavily divided, regrettably embracing the storyline and manipulation created by those who oppress us?" "How can our country undergo transformation if we fail to unite in both speech and action, functioning as a collective holding the disadvantaged position consistently?" "Why is it challenging for us to collaborate within a single political framework to promote our principles, construct it, and effectively seize control of our country's governance?" "He stated that this occasion presents us with a unique chance to reconsider our political approach as a collective and render it more feasible in order to prevent the errors we have committed since 1999."
Ajaero raised a question, inquiring if there are individuals present who are willing to embark on the same journey as Lenin did. "Are there any comrades present who may not be workers in the traditional sense, but grasp the fact that our interests align?" "Have they decided to participate in the fight for a more prosperous Nigeria, which should start by establishing fairness in our working environment?" "He expressed his invitation to join us, with a Leninist perspective.
As a tribute to this exceptional ideology, he extended his invitation to all individuals, regardless of gender, who are willing to endure hardships for the betterment of workers and the underprivileged, among others."
"He expressed that the commemoration would be futile unless everyone collectively rises and commits to collaborating, remaining determined to bring about a positive change in the country." Ajaero also requested for substantial contributions that would assist in establishing a fairer and more balanced global society.
