"Police apprehended 24 individuals believed to be involved in online fraud at their training venue."
The EFCC has detained 24 individuals who are suspected of being involved in internet fraud.
These individuals were allegedly trained in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
On Monday, the EFCC spokesperson, Mr Dele Oyewale, stated that the arrests of the individuals took place in Uyo. According to Oyewale, the suspects were apprehended based on credible information received about a multi-storey building suspected to be a refuge for criminals engaging in internet fraud training.
The building is located in Ewet Housing Estate and Nelson Mandela areas.
"The individuals suspected, who were exclusively men, were apprehended in two separate areas through a carefully planned operation based on gathered intelligence. These areas include the D-Line Ewet Housing Estate and the Nelson Mandela vicinity, both situated in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State."
Items recovered from the premises and the suspects include five exotic cars, 18 laptops, 17 mobile phones and one internet router.
“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he said.
