A video has surfaced showing Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Luka Bashayi from the Ogudu Area Command of the Lagos State Police Command involved in a troubling incident in which he was caught demanding a N10,000 bribe from a driver in Lagos.

Concerned citizens noticed the video that was being shared online, which led to responses from State and Force spokesmen, SP Benjamin Hundeyin and ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The video shows ASP Bashayi providing an Access Bank account number and directing the car owner to immediately transfer N10,000 to avoid being brought to the police station.

Although the video does not clarify the motive behind the request, the interaction between the ASP and the driver can be heard saying, "give me N10,000 quickly so you can leave now," to which the driver replies, "I don't have it."

Several social media users shared the video, aiming to make the diligent police officer famous.   One user, @the_Lawrenz, posted the video with a caption encouraging others to retweet it.

Another user named Chikwus humorously commented on the officer's hard work and urged someone named @Princemoye1 to take notice.

In response, SP Hundeyin affirmed, “We will not gloss over this. He is ASP Luka Bashayi, serving at Ogudu Area Command. Meanwhile, @Lagos_PoliceCRU has commenced actions on this.” ACP Adejobi condemned the incident, stating, “This is not allowed, so shameful. It’s condemned. We need more info about this. We will fish him out.”
