A man has been given a life sentence in prison after sexually assaulting two young children aged 6 and 7.

Story by Iyiola Ayomide

Mr. Paul was found guilty and convicted by the Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court, Ikeja, on Tuesday, 30th January, 2024, after a thorough trial aimed at bringing justice to the victims, as reported by Crimewatchnewspaper.

After carefully examining the evidence provided, Justice Abiola Soladoye, the Presiding Judge, concluded in the verdict that the defendant is culpable for two of the three charges leveled against him, namely defilement and engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, as stipulated by Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The Court's ruling indicated that Ndedigwe Paul enticed the victims, who were six and seven-year-olds attending kindergarten, to enter his room and engaged in illicit sexual intercourse with them.   Additionally, Paul committed an indecent act by inserting his finger into the victims' genital areas and had sexual relations with them individually while one observed.

On February 14, 2023, during his arraignment, he entered a plea of not guilty to the three charges of engaging in sexual activity with minors aged six and seven.    During the duration of the trial, the prosecution, under the guidance of Olufunke Adegoke and A.P Bolanle, put forth a persuasive argument, and the individuals affected were called upon to give testimony.

Both victims, aged six and seven, distinctly recounted the horrifying occurrence and positively identified Ndedigwe as the individual who lured them into his quarters.

He then proceeded to engage in inappropriate behavior with them before ultimately engaging in illegal sexual intercourse with them on his bed.    The man was characterized by Judge Abiola Soladoye as being rough, uncouth, avaricious, a pedophile, and someone who ruins futures by corrupting the morals of young girls.

It is necessary to administer punishment in order to discourage other pedophiles.    She provided additional clarification that the individuals affected are underage and do not have the legal capacity to give consent.

Soladoye determined that the accused is guilty of two out of the three charges brought against him and imposed life imprisonment for the first and second charges, respectively.

The offender was promptly transferred to the Ikoyi correctional facility to carry out his sentence simultaneously.
