On 20th January 2024, the Nigeria Police Force apprehended Bello Mohammed, a 28-year-old individual from Zamfara State, in Kaduna.

The SUPREME discovered that the Divisional Police Officer in Tafa Division conducted a raid on a hotel in the Kaduna area based on a tip-off.   During the raid, the officer apprehended Bello, who was found in possession of #2.25m (Two Million, two hundred and fifty million naira) believed to be money obtained from ransom payments from kidnapped victims in the vicinity.

During questioning, it was reported that the accused admitted to being a member of the gang responsible for abducting the family members of Barrister Ariyo in Bwari, FCT, on January 2nd, 2024. Additionally, the suspect confessed to participating in the murder of several victims held captive, such as Nabeeha, the daughter of the lawyer, on January 13th, 2024, at a kidnappers' hideout located in Kaduna State.

During a tense situation, it was reported that the individual under suspicion attempted to bribe the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) with a sum of one million naira in an effort to sway their actions.   However, the DPO refused the offer and remained committed to executing their responsibilities diligently.

The IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has given instructions for the suspect, who has admitted to being involved with the five neutralized bandits in Kaduna by the IRT led by Mai Gemu (aka Godara), and whose dangerous camp has also been demolished, to be transferred to the DFI-IRT in Abuja. This is to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and apprehend all other individuals responsible for this terrible crime.

The suspect is currently cooperating with the police in their inquiries.

The commitment and professionalism displayed by DPO Tafa, SP Idris Ibrahim, in handling the case are appreciated.   The Police will ensure that every effort is made to eradicate criminal individuals and create a safer society for all Nigerians.

The story has been confirmed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who is a spokesperson for the police force.
