According to the authorities, Vera Okoth's body was found in the toilet of her family's residence in Umiru village on Tuesday.
The discovery was made by her mother. According to Cleti Kimaiyo, the commander of Siaya County authorities, the mother informed them that she had gone to wake her daughter up but found her absent from her room.
"When she entered the restroom adjacent to her room, she made a shocking discovery - her lifeless body was suspended with a rope tightly wound around her neck."
According to initial investigations by the police, the deceased had unsuccessfully applied for nearly 500 jobs, and before her death, she had inquired her mother whether she would ever secure employment.
The deceased obtained a bachelor's degree in science from Masinde Muliro University in Kenya in 2019.
Kimaiyo mentioned that the reason behind the incident is still unclear as the deceased did not leave a suicide note. He further informed that all her certificates were found on her bed.
"We are currently examining the occurrence and have not yet determined the underlying intention," he stated.
