"Requests for distinct attire, dissolution of groups in states where their stipends remain unpaid.

" The National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP, can report that the Police Service Commission is dissatisfied with the current structure and functioning of the Special Police Constabulary across the country.

"The Commission has already reached out to the Inspector General of Police regarding the necessity of revamping the structure and procedures of the unit."

Officers of the organization, a semi-official Police unit established for community policing, have been the subject of numerous reports regarding their unprofessional behavior.

There are various accounts of their unprofessional behavior, including their arrogant treatment of the public and blatant bribery in both traffic situations and local neighborhoods.

The Commission is requesting a distinct uniform for the Officers of the organization, one that can be easily distinguished from the uniform worn by regular Police Officers.

According to the statement, this measure will enable accurate monitoring of the behavior of both the members of the organization and the regular Police Officers, thereby dissociating the Nigeria Police Force from any allegations related to the misconduct of the members of the organization.

The Commission also urges for the dissolution of the group in regions where they are not receiving a salary or being supported.

The statement emphasized the potential risks involved in equipping and authorizing individuals to ensure security and enforce laws in various regions within the country, without offering them proper monetary compensation.

The Commission has noted that these group of individuals have targeted innocent Nigerians for financial support by using coercive extortion and intimidation tactics.

Dr. Solomon Arase, the retired Inspector General of Police and Chairman of the Commission, stated that the Commission intends to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force leadership in order to improve the organization and functioning of the outfit.

According to Dr. Arase, it is crucial to distinguish the Special Constabulary from regular Police Officers and establish clear guidelines for their operations, which should include specifications for their uniforms and rules of engagement.
