According to Betta Edu, the minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, 3.5 million Nigerians have received N25,000 each from the Federal Government through the conditional cash transfer scheme.    On Thursday, she mentioned this statement, which occurred two months following the initiation of the program by President Bola Tinubu's government.   The program's objective is to provide aid to 15 million financially disadvantaged households, aiming to alleviate the effects of removing fuel subsidies.    According to him, a total of 3.5 million Nigerians have been given a payment of N25,000 each until now.   However, the payment is ongoing, and in the upcoming week, an additional 4.5 million individuals will also receive the same amount.   Consequently, by the end of the year, they estimate that approximately 8 million people will have been covered.   These statements were made during an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today.    As per her statement, the ministry has verified the initial group of beneficiaries and is currently in the process of completing the same steps for ongoing applications under the program.   Additionally, she mentioned that the list is being expanded to include additional individuals such as retirees.    "The list consists of 480 individuals who are currently undergoing in-person verification.   This verification process is crucial as it confirms their identity, location, and eligibility to be included in the social register.   Failure to meet these criteria will result in disqualification," stated the minister.    According to Edu, the government is currently disbursing outstanding payments to N-Power beneficiaries, who were owed several months' salaries by the previous administration under President Muhammadu Buhari.    "She stated that at the moment, there is an ongoing payment for N-Power. The team worked diligently in the office from yesterday until the early hours of this morning to ensure that the youth receive the funds that were owed to them by the previous administration."    "So, N-Power participants throughout the country, I believe you can confirm that you are receiving your funds in your bank accounts, and this procedure will persist until every individual who has genuinely fulfilled their service is compensated."    "Furthermore, we are currently implementing a restructuring plan that aims to decrease unemployment rates and generate employment opportunities for the people of Nigeria."
